A little romance for Valentine's Day 2012

Wednesday, December 28, 2011
“You have bewitched me body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you.
And wish from this day forth never to be parted from you.”
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
From Mulberry Muse new Valentine's Day Collection for 2012

Saint Valentines Day

Sunday, February 13, 2011
Saint Valentine's Day, commonly shortened to Valentine's Day,  celebrated on February 14th.
The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs, St Valentine. It is traditionally a day when lovers express their love for each other with gifts of cards, flowers and chocolates.
I think that Valentines day should be kept as a day for lovers and not extended to family, friends.
The commercialization spoils the sweet and special nature of the day.
It ought to be as it traditionally was, a special celebration for those in love.

Bunny Rabbits

Wednesday, February 3, 2010
Thinking about Bunnies,  so cute and cuddly.

I could never eat Rabbit stew when a child in England.

My Grandad kept Rabbits but they were for food, apparently a good source of nutrition during the war years.

A new Print from my Cafe Baudelaire shop and cards from Mulberry Muse

I have a lovely collection of the still very popular Bunnykins china

I adore Beatrix Potter's gorgeous work and have the whole collection of her wonderful Children's stories.

Beatrix Potter began her career at the age of 24 after having some of her rabbit drawings accepted by the publishers of greeting cards, Hildesheimer and Faulkner.

I too began my career as an illustrator and designer of greeting cards at around the same age.

I still work freelance for the same Sydney company over 20 years later!

I love the Romance of Jane Austin's books, it is lovely to sit in a comfy chair, cup of tea in hand and indulge in a little romantic escape.

This beautiful gocco printed card is from Yardia on etsy

A Regency period dress accompanied by the phrase, "A girl likes to be crossed in love a little now and then.

" The text is taken from Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice".

Washing up can be romantic too! with this gorgeous Dish Towel from Brookish

A little romantic card from me inspired by Jane Austin's 'Emma"  available from my Mulberry Muse shop

I repainted her face, I think she looks a little cross, I think my moods tend to reflect in my painting!
